The Judge Who Signed Off On the Mar-a-Lago Raid Made Disparaging Remarks About Trump in 2017
I did some journalism of my own and found Judge Bruce Reinhart's personal Facebook page
Early this morning, the New York Post revealed that the judge who signed off on last night’s raid of Mar-a-Lago, Bruce E. Reinhart, was hired by Jeffrey Epstein in 2008 to defend his employees.
Additional digging revealed that Reinhart is currently a trustee for Temple Beth David in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. That connection lead to Reinhart’s personal Facebook page where Reinhart made disparaging remarks about Donald Trump in a public Facebook post in 2017.
On January 14th of that year, Reinhart wrote:
“I generally ignore the President-elect's tweets, but not this one. John Lewis arguably has done more to "make America great" than any living citizen. Last August, I took my son to the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma so he could understand the kind of courage and sacrifice required to live in a democratic society. John Lewis embodies that spirit. Although I've never met him, he is one of my heroes.
“Thank you, Robert Reich, for saying what many of us feel, "John Lewis is the conscience of America. Donald Trump doesn’t have the moral stature to kiss John Lewis’s feet."
“Or, as Joseph Welch said to Joseph McCarthy, "At long last, have you left no sense of decency?"”
Reinhart attacks Trump for his lack of decency when talking about Congressman John Lewis and agrees with former Clinton advisor Robert Reich that “Donald Trump doesn’t have the moral stature to kiss John Lewis’s feet.”
Reinhard’s post was sharing a long comment from Dan Rather on Trump’s response to Democratic Congressman John Lewis claiming that Trump’s election was illegitimate due to Russian election interference—an important reminder that prominent Democrats in 2016 openly denied the legitimacy of that election and spent the next several years engaging in full on lawfare against the President. Lawfare that Reinhart himself is now participating in.
Reinhart made a post in July of 2017 defending criminal justice reform, saying that it was “embarassing” to live in a state less englightend on reform efforts than Louisiana and Mississippi.
Reinhart also shared a post in October of 2017 from a facebook group called “WokeFolks” explaining white privilege, using the metaphor of running a race with different starting lines.
Photos associated with the Facebook account confirm Reinhart’s identity:
The below photo of Reinhart is from the Federalist:
Here is a screenshot of the details of Reinhart’s law office:
Bruce Reinhart’s liberalism runs in the family. His son, Jacob Reinhart, wrote a post on January 7, 2021, calling on friends and family to reach out to legislative representatives about the grave danger posed by President Trump still possessing access to nuclear weapons.
Reinhart also ran a blog, now private, at the url: https://brucereinhart.law.blog/2016/12/31/your-sentence-is-unconstitutional-but-well-execute-you-anyway-the-status-of-floridas-death-penalty-part-iii/?fbclid=IwAR3OhrH0bfGQ1Dy69ahj6dqo1o9DJ2VeSW0qO4xPXX9EwyzifHxneuHC86Q
An Internet Archive search turned up nothing, but perhaps a more enterprising researcher can find a record of the blog.
At the very least, the evidence from Reinhart’s personal facebook page makes clear that he bore animosity toward Donald Trump that he was more than willing to make public.
This raid was obviously a political hit job coordinated with a judge more than willing to weaponize his supposedly “nonpartisan” office against a man he considered fundamentally indecent. This lesson must not be forgotten.
great work put this all together.
Another crooked judge. Who today has any faith in the judiciary, which consists of a bunch of political operatives with too much power?
