The role of influencers in the MAGA coalition
The goal of political power is to achieve concrete ends for the sake of the common good, not flame-out in stupid e-drama.
The point of a political movement is to accomplish real, definable aims for the sake of the common good by using state power.
Many influencers who "got big" during the Biden years only know what it is like to be in the minority, to be dogs nipping at the heels of the powerful. They don't understand power or how to use it.
They don't know how to win.
On the other hand, the accounts who got big in the halcyon "oldtroon" days of 2014-17, experience burn out and disgust at the slopification and stupidity of the modern e-right.
They wonder if winning is even worth it.
From my standpoint, we need to resist both tendencies, though the first is by far more destructive, dangerous, and common.
The job of the Poster (or Influencer) within the MAGA coalition is to provide covering fire in the social media space for Trump's policies, offer substantive and helpful criticism at key moments, and gather information about popular sentiment on behalf of Trump's advisors.
It is undoubtedly true that the vast bulk of young staffers, the backbone of the current administration and the future of any meaningful right wing political movement, grew up online. They are in our spaces. They read our work. They care what happens here.
Remember, Trump has been on the scene for 10 years. The new crop of 20-35 year old staffers grew up politically in the Trump era. They have spent their entire adult lives or the bulk of their political careers in a world dominated by MAGA.
There is a lot of reason to be hopeful at this turn of events. I am impressed by what I see behind the scenes. It doesn't mean that everything is perfect or that there are no problems. Of course there are. But we are making progress.
We are winning. The Left is in retreat, but they aren't dead. Restoring national sovereignty isn't the work of a day or even a presidential term. We have, at least, 10+ years of difficult political toil ahead of us in order to make substantial headway in keeping the radical leftists and bloodthirsty communists out of power.
There is no time to waste, no time for stupid narcissistic flame-outs and interminable e-drama. If we fight, we win. So get in the arena and do your job.
Stay focused.
this is an interesting point: "The new crop of 20-35 year old staffers grew up politically in the Trump era", kudos. I wonder if it will lead to good places that some in Trump world dont expect, such as to re-democratizations
Don't react to them, make them react to us.
