Elon Musk’s purchase of a 10% stake in Twitter this morning has lead to plenty of hot takes that he’ll radically change the platform—perhaps even letting back on conservatives who were unceremoniously booted.

I don’t see it happening. Elon Musk is a grifter who built a career on shilling government subsidized, Chinese built, mobile surveillance platforms to the American public. The memes and banter on Joe Rogan’s podcast are just words. Musk is not a free man who gets to drop billions of dollars on a whim. In fact, he’s actually broke if you count liquid assets he actually controls.
Musk is nothing more than a cipher controlled by factions that are invisible to the public eye. This latest move is nothing but a circus for the people. It’s designed to make ordinary folks believe that someone somewhere is “doing something” about censorship. A few milquetoast “conservatives” might even get their platforms back. The rest of us, including Trump, will remain locked out.
Twitter, like the rest of Big Tech, has a deeply rooted ideological interest in ensuring that right wing voices don’t become popular organically on their platforms. This undermines the power of the gatekeepers and their stranglehold on American economic and political life. Musk is one such gatekeeper. Or, he at least works for them. He has a long leash for propaganda reasons.
But no, Musk isn’t going to let Trump (or me) back on Twitter. Tyrannies cannot survive without censorship. And Musk, at the end of the day, is infinitely more loyal to his liberal masters than to abstract principles of “free speech.”
I am glad you were able to deduce that Musk is a grifter. His whole business model and ideas are clearly insane. This guy spoke of inserting chips into peoples brains and allowing AI to run things. Very bizarre and weird.
