In the summer of 2015, I began publicly supporting Donald Trump for President. I defended him in writing and on social media, I voted for him in the CA primary and then I voted for him again in the fall of 2016.
And yesterday word just leaked from inside the Supreme Court that Roe v. Wade will be overturned at the end of the summer term. We absolutely love to see it.
This is a personal vindication. I remember 2015. I remember how the “muh principles, muh decency” conservatives were SHOCKED and HORRIFIED when Trump said “pussy” and talked privately about how women loved to have sex with him. These sensitive souls who were too good to sully themselves by voting for Trump also happened to be the kind of conservative who were particularly committed to the pro-life cause.
And yet here we are. Roe is about to get nuked because of people like me had good political instincts and not because of the moralizing blather from the True Conservatives. Feels good, man. I don’t expect these conservatives to learn their lesson, the human capacity for rationalization is too powerful, but I will take the moment to crow. I was right about Trump when the vast majority of my peers and “important” conservatives were not. I won’t forget that.
The responses on Twitter to the news have been delicious:
Even if the Court somehow reverses—the damage is done. The American Right is only growing in power. The more degenerate, arrogant, and vicious the Left becomes, the stronger we get. Censorship can’t stop us. The fake and gay insurrection crackdown won’t do it either.
Liberals are going to wish for the heady days of the Trump presidency before all is said and done.
Hear hear! Well done and written.
