All the people involved with not doing their duty should be fired at a minimum. Including that idiot warden. There’s so many perverse incentives for keeping these killers alive. Lots of money for the prison, lawyers, activists, etc…The best part for them is that they get to extract this money from the victims, who are us. Murderers get life and love, the victims and society get death and hatred. This behavior is evil and disgusting.

I can definitely see where you’re coming from. I oppose the death penalty not so much on moral grounds but out of an understanding that the justice system and the state do not not have the integrity or competence to handle such a burden correctly. That said, I’m not happy to see the system being subverted as it is, nor of corrective officials taking matters into their own hands arbitrarily.

Capital punishment is barbaric and people are starting to realize this increasingly -- it is greatly disfavored, largely because it is the embodiment of hypocrisy, and often shown to be performed on quite a significant amount of people who are later found to be innocent. So, yeah, you could see why people would want to be reticent, especially if they're bonded with people.

Rather than criticize people for not doing their job, why not consider that the entire premise of our prison system itself is based on deeply flawed, medieval premises about human behavior that are based entirely on the tyrannical superstition? The death penalty is a deterrent for crime like the COVID vaccines are deterrent for COVID. Making statements like this without pointing to data is profoundly weak -- and in this case, the reason you didn't point to it is because the counterargument is much stronger and you can't make the case based on any reported facts. So just repeating this non-fact to yourself and those who already have your bias, I guess, is a way to make your point.

I wouldn't do it, and I have deeply mixed feelings for anyone who would accept money to do it. The state is not God. The blood of those people will be on your hands for the rest of your life.
